What to expect:
Before your appointment
Eat a light meal or snack, try to avoid coming to your appointment with an empty stomach. Food = Qi!
Wear loose, flexible, comfortable clothing
Do not to brush your tongue coating - tongue observation is an important diagnostic tool in Chinese Medicine
Come with an open mind. Even if you’ve had acupuncture in the past, each acupuncturist’s approach and style can be different
Nervous about needles? It’s totally normal! These needles are as thin as a hair and often painless, but we also have needle-free options if needed.
During your appointment
INTAKE PROCESS: We will start with reviewing the paper intake form, followed by a more extensive verbal intake.
DIAGNOSTICS: In Chinese Medicine, the diagnosis reflects your current presentation. This means the diagnosis can change from treatment to treatment. After the intake, I will observe your wrist pulses and tongue to gather more presenting information from your body.
Once the needles are placed, if you feel comfortable, you will rest while retaining the needles for 20-30 minutes. This is where the blissful “Acu Nap” takes place.
I am not the one doing the healing, your body has all the power here! I am merely serving as a conduit of energy for the process of healing to take place.
After your appointment
We will discuss a customized treatment plan tailored to fit your needs. This may include suggested frequency of treatments, dietary and lifestyle recommendations, review any questions or feedback you may have.
I have two rules: Hydrate and Take it easy! Acupuncture can be gentle but powerful so be sure listen to what your body desires after your appointment.
